Contribute to the development of Congolese children and young people
Contribute to the eradication of poverty by promoting health, food security and nutrition, education, gender and youth empowerment; for the sustainable development of human beings.
IRIS MAENDELEO is a Congolese organization serving children and young people. Born against a backdrop of insecurity affecting food security, health, the environment and education in the DRC, children and young people are prime victims. Their well-being, however, is a vital factor in ensuring the prosperity of future generations in a sustainable world.
The birth of this organization is a tribute to the actions of Swiss Christian couple Jürg and Iris Steinlin, who have been committed since 2020 to supporting vulnerable children and young people in Africa and around the world in the fields of education, food security and health-nutrition.
Related to the Sustainable Development Goals and aim to contribute to the empowerment of Congolese youth in the province of South Kivu through food processing. Objectively, this initiative aim to provide local solutions to food insecurity in the DR Congo.
2. Women and Youth entrepreneurship
The aim of this activity is to strengthen the entrepreneurial capacity of women and girls in the DRC with a view to contributing to their financial autonomy. The areas targeted by this program are art (beading, leather goods, decoration, etc.), cosmetics (local beauty care products) and digital communication.
3. Education
The aim of this pilot programme is to contribute to ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all (SDG4), by promoting the education of female children in vulnerable conditions (SDG5).
4. Health and nutrition
Improving health and nutrition practices and services for children and youth in DRC.
5. Environment
Promoting the nature convervation by fighting the climate change through different activities.
